They were born in Indonesia, on two separate islands in 1992 – Eugene in Jakarta, and Vina in Bali. Vina remained, but Eugene moved to Sydney, Australia at the young age of 6. They grew up with dreams and ambitions to explore the world and strove to be the best they can be.
Fast forward to 2015, and they both landed in Vienna, Austria to study. An unexpected encounter, he saw her looking lost for directions in the main square of St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Eugene took his courage and simply asked Vina – ‘Can I help you find your way?’ – to which they spent their night ice-skating the twilight winter night away.
They became close friends, traveled together, dated and always reminded themselves of each other – no matter what the country or how different their time-zones were. Nearly a year being physically apart across opposite sides of the world, it was finally time they decided to figure out a future and a home in Sydney, Australia.
The year is now 2018 and on a rainy summer’s night of a lakeside park, Eugene leant on one knee to propose, and it was a no-brainer for Vina to reply back to him with gusto and say ‘Yes!’.
It took them nearly 5 years to get here, and on Saturday, 26th September 2020 they have invited their family and friends to all celebrate their wedding. It is the day for them to remember and to thank those who have supported their journey. More importantly, it is the day that symbolizes they’ve made it through it all and are committed to cherish their futures together.
Years in the making, but from 3 countries, 2 different paths and 1 goal to live an inseparable life together – within each other, they’ve found a place where they can call home.
